Vynikající není čin, ale zvyk.
Proto vám všem říkám, Ānando: „Pokračujte v této dobré praxi, kterou jsem založil. Nebuďte mým posledním člověkem.“
- Největší nepřítel je ego. Největší ztráta je ztratit sám sebe.
- Arogance je nejhorší porážka. Sebe-podceňování je nejvíc politováníhodná věc.
- Soucit a uvědomění o pomíjivosti vznikající v mysli jsou největšími dary.
Takže Ānando, po mé smrti, nechť učení je tvým ostrovem, žij jako svůj vlastní ostrov, své vlastní útočiště, bez jiného útočiště.
Pro nezávislé není žádné rozrušení. Když není rozrušení, je klid. Když je klid, není žádné naklonění. Když není naklonění, není žádné přicházení a odcházení. Když není přicházení a odcházení, není žádné umírání a znovuzrození. Když není umírání a znovuzrození, není tento svět ani svět za ním, ani mezi nimi.
To je konec utrpení.

"Mahā" means great, surpassing. "Kāla" means time, darkness, emptiness. Mahākāla transcends time and space.
- An incarnation of Mahāvairocana Buddha embodies the quality of destruction.
- An aspect of Shiva dissolves everything back into the primal Void.
- Deep blackness represents the absence and complete dissolution of all phenomena.
Mahākāla, fierce and destructive, devastates all of nature and even deities; this represents the Age of Destruction and Emptiness, where time and space are almost beyond conception.
